We believe in the timeless look of natural stone. We also believe in conserving natural resources. Time and again we’ve been recognized for our ability to create stone fixtures and environments that help your home or business to transcend ordinary design while minimizing it’s impact on the earth. Here are just a few of our recent recognitions.
We are proud to announce that one of our projects won 2010 Tucker Design Awards. Sponsored by the Building Stone Institute and recognized as one of the most prestigious architectural design awards in the country, the Tucker Design Awards honor those who achieve excellence through the incorporation and use of natural stone. Projects are evaluated by a diverse group of architects from around the country.

Tucker Design Award
Cornell University Bailey Plaza - Ithaca NY
Connecticut Stone won a Tucker Design Award for our part in the Bailey Plaza project at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. This project transformed a one-acre parking lot into a modern thoroughfare combining practicality with design. Our very own Lance Dellacroce was the Project Manager on this high-profile project, and Connecticut Stone was one of two stone suppliers.
An excerpt from the jury comments that accompanied this award: "Stone as a building material delineates pedestrian movement in and out of the plaza. Placing stone as sculpture was a subtle but creative way to frame the seating areas. The fountain lifts out of the site to create interest while serving as a backdrop to the seating areas."
Tucker Design Award
Private residence - Glencoe, IL
Connecticut Stone also won a Tucker Design Award for our work on the Litowitz Residence in Glencoe Illinois. We supplied materials for this innovative home based on English Arts and Crafts architecture and relying heavily on natural stone décor and landscaping.
An excerpt from the jury comments: "The craftsmanship is outstanding. It appears as if the architect and stonemason collaborated throughout the design and construction. The choice to balance smooth and rough textures of stone and carefully combining the stone with other materials successfully emphasizes the warmth of each material. A true success story relative to the spirit of arts and crafts."

Mosaics add a personal touch
Glass mosaics were incorporated into the master bathroom of a private residence in Fairfield County, CT, to create an oasis for a busy mother of two. According to designer Tyra Dellacroce of Connecticut Stone of Milford, CT, the client desired a “tranquil, spa-like bathroom that was clean, soft and feminine.”
